There are many ebook reading programs available. If you don't already have one, a very popular option is Calibre. It is available for Windows, Apple OS X, Linux, and a portable version for USB thumb drives / flash drives.

From their website: 'Calibre is a powerful and easy to use ebook manager. Users say it is outstanding and a must-have. It'll allow you to do nearly everything and it takes things a step beyond normal ebook software. It's also completely free and open source and great for both casual users and computer experts.'

One ebook reader for Android users that has received wide acclaim is Aldiko. Here is the link to it on the official Google Play website: play.google.com
According to the Google Play website, Aldiko should work on all phones running Android 2.3 and up.

The EPUB ebook format is probably the most common of all the formats and is widely supported across all platforms. Most eReaders like Apple's iBooks, Barnes & Noble's Nook, Adobe Digital Editions, Aldiko on Android among others (nearly 300) support .epub files. Amazon Kindle may in the future (if it doesn't already).

The MOBI (or Mobipocket) ebook format is an open standard for eBook publishing. It was bought by Amazon. It is also cross-platform. eBooks in this format can have the .prc or .mobi extension. This is the preferred format for Kindle.
